Jane Austen fans parade through the streets of Bath in gorgeous Regency costume
Fans of the acclaimed 19th-century author Jane Austen took part in this year's Regency Costumed Parade this weekend. Outfitted participants gathered in front of the historic Georgian Royal Crescent in Bath over the weekend, before beginning a walk through the city centre. This year was a special one for dedicated fans of Austen, as this is the 200th anniversary of her death. The bicentenary brought hundreds of people out to parade through the city centre dressed in Regency costume.
The event kicks off the 10-day Jane Austen festival, which will celebrate the author who lived in Bath from 1801 to 1806 and set two of her six published novels, 'Northanger Abbey' and 'Persuasion', there.
