Jamaica campaigns to host reggae Woodstock

The world’s most iconic music festival could be set to debut in Jamaica if the island’s minister of tourism and entertainment gets his way. The minister, Damien Crawford, has held talks with the organisers of the festival, which takes place in the Catskills, New York, each August, and hopes to get backing to host a reggae version of the event. Woodstock bills itself as a festival of “peace and music”. It rose to international fame in 1969, a year that has been remembered as a pivotal moment in music history.
