Italian troops deployed to Rome to counter terrorist threat

Italy’s interior minister has announced a decision to send an additional 700 soldiers to Rome to guard against potential terrorist attacks during the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

Millions of Catholic pilgrims are expected to visit Rome during the Jubilee Year, which starts on 8 December 2015 and continues until 20 November 2016, and there are longstanding fears of a terrorist attack. Isis has made numerous threats to attack the Italian capital. Read more:
