Ironman defeated by Lake Tahoe conditions

Despite the fantastic setting and enthusiasm of participants, the body that oversees Ironman competitions around the world has decided to stop holding the long-distance swim/cycle/run event in the Lake Tahoe area, on the California-Nevada border.

While this year’s race went ahead, last year’s was cancelled at the very last minute because of nearby wildfires causing problems with air quality and visibility and now officials have suspended the event indefinitely, citing weather concerns. Read more:
