A concerted campaign was launched this week by Tourism Ireland as it bids to promote the country in the Big Apple. Over 100 leading personnel from the travel trade who attended the launch heard that Ireland had a bumper year with more than 134,000 additional Americans tasting Irish hospitality last year.

The aim, according to TN Global Travel Industry new, is to build on the 13% increase by extensively marketing that part of the US East Coast. The Irish promotion will emphasise the unique holiday experience Ireland offers but will also focus is on special events which are attractions in themselves. For instance, the country will celebrate the 150th birth of WB Yeats as part of its promotion to its ‘culturally curious’ audience.

The agency will also highlight the best of Irish design, which has a ‘stand-out’ branding already on the world stage.
