India signs up for balloon-powered broadband
India has become the last nation to sign up to Google’s Project Loon, which aims to bring the internet to rural areas using a network of remote-controlled weather balloons.
New Zealand was the first country to sign up to Project Loon, and is has since been joined by Brazil, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and now India. Google are promising that the hive-like network can provide internet at 4G speeds, even in remote areas off the hard-wired telephone grid. Read more: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
