The government of India has voted to scrap a raft of British-era laws from the statute books, including a ban on knock-kneed vehicle inspectors and a law requiring police officers to remove their hats in the presence of royalty. A requirement that citizens must report the discovery of any treasure worth more than ten rupees (US$0.16) to the authorities is also amongst the 1000 or so laws being scrutinised. Read more:
