India enshrines prisoners’ right to conjugal visits

India has a reputation for prudish attitudes when it comes to sex, but the High Court in Delhi has upheld the legal right for prisoners to have conjugal visits, so long as these are with their married partners with the aim of procreation. Lawyers are now working out if this applies to all classes of prisoners, or just those guilty of less serious crimes, and how to enforce the procreation clause. Read more:
