Hundreds rescued from cars as Spain’s cold snap continues

Around 220 motorists had to be rescued from their cars by members of the Emergency Military Unit (UME) and the Civil Guard this week after becoming trapped by snow between Cantabria and Palencia, in northern Spain. Rail services have been suspended between Asturias and León with further disruption expected this weekend as temperatures continue to dip. Read more:
