Hotels want to boost your brain power with in-house neuroscientists, mental trainers and TED talks
Travelling is amazing, but it can wreak havoc on your mind and body when stress and jet lag come into play. For those who fly through time zones or those travelling long-distance around the world for pleasure, the toll on the mind and body can lead to stress, insomnia and irritability. Progressive hotels around the world are beginning to introduce measures to help their guests deal with the effects, and also to inspire creative thinking.
Here are some of the services on offer
The Corinthia Hotel in London has introduced a neuroscientist-in-residence to help travellers to recover from the effects of long-haul travel. Tara Swart gives lectures at the hotel on subjects ranging from imposter syndrome to the effect of technology on the brain. The hotel also offers a Brain Power package, which is designed to address areas such as nutrition, hydration, sleep and mindfulness.
The Hotel Salzburgerhof in Austria offers a qualified mental trainer to help guests to relax deeply, release blockages, and build up new resources to strengthen themselves on an emotional level. A preventative burnout approach and targeted deep relaxation are offered, and services offered include iris analysis, burnout coaching and hypnotherapy.
Marriott International has introduced several innovative concepts this year to enhance their guest experience and inspire creative thinking. It has partnered with TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) to create exclusive videos for guests, which are available on the in-room entertainment system. It is hosting its own live TED Talk salons in key cities around the world, and aims to educate and engage its guests to spark their creativity and innovation, while inspiring new perspectives.
