Beat the jetlag - this hotel offers circadian rhythm lighting to help guests get a better night's rest
A Tampa hotel has redesigned some of its rooms with features like “circadian rhythm lighting” and dawn simulation in order to reduce the effects of jet lag and stress, allowing guests to get a better sleep.
The Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel and Marina has launched its new “Stay Well” rooms, which have advanced air purification, aromatherapy and other wellness amenities for travellers while they are on the road. The rooms’ circadian mood lighting is designed to emulate natural light to help with sleep, and “long wave night lighting” is there to help guests navigate their room at night while reducing the disruption to their sleep. A dawn simulator will wake guests up with gradually increasing light along with music or sounds. An emphasis on a good night’s sleep may be a draw for travellers – as a recent survey revealed that 40% of Americans actually take five or more days off of work each year just to catch up on some much-needed sleep.
But the rooms don’t stop at a light-based lullaby – the showers have a vitamin C-infused shower system to help with skin and hair, and the hotel offers other benefits for the health-conscious, like wellness programs for sleep or nutrition, and healthy menu options. More hotels are aiming services towards guests who are interested in mindfulness and a healthy lifestyle – like Brooklyn’s EVEN Hotel, which comes with yoga mats, and built-in fitness wall with resistance bands.
Even airlines are aiming to keep people relaxed, like Delta Air Lines, which added a popular meditation app to its entertainment options. The app takes travellers through guided meditations in the sky, aiming at keeping folks entertained and calm on a long flight.
