Penitents take part in Holy Week processions around Spain

Around Spain, Christians celebrate Holy Week, or Semana Santa, the largest religious celebration of the year. The holy week is marked during the last week of Lent, before Easter Sunday.  Penitents from religious brotherhoods, or cofradías, take part in processions in cities around Spain, from larger centres like Malaga and Seville where tourists often flock to see the elaborate celebrations, to smaller villages around the country.
