Have the best of both worlds with a 'boat villa' in the Maldives
What could be better than either a villa in the sun or your very own boat in tropical seas only a combination of the two?
Luxury group Soneva are planning to launch their very first “boat villa” next month at their flagship resort in the Maldives.
The twenty metre long six metre wide vessel, named Soneva in Aqua, is planned to be the first of twenty boats that will be made available to guests at their destinations, which also include Thailand and Indonesia.
Anyone hoping to stay on board will of course need deep pockets and the nightly rate for the two cabin yacht – which caters for four guests – is reported to start at around £2800.
That does however, come with your own personal captain, chef, dive instructor and housekeeper. Whoever books the boat decides where it will go with a “map of locations” available according to the weather conditions.
Guests can even sleep under the stars on the top sundeck and get a rundown on the night sky from the crew, who have been given astronomy training.
Food and drink are provided with a full bar included as the brochure explains: “The bar on the upper deck is the best place for sunset drinks and cocktails before dining. Additionally, guests can discover private islands or coves and dine under a starlit sky with sand beneath their toes whilst enjoying a simple barbeque or a romantic meal.”
Soneva told Lonely Planet they were hoping to have the brand new yacht welcoming its first guests “in late December”.
The boat features two large suites: one with a sunken bath. It also has a Jacuzzi, a small library and built-in entertainment systems.
It even offers on board spa facilities, yoga and Tai Chi sessions, massages, as well as diving and snorkelling in the famous reefs of the Maldives.
