Grizzly bear smashes viewing panel glass at Minnesota Zoo

Zoo-goers at Minnesota Zoo got an animal encounter that was a little too close for comfort on Monday when a brown bear, also known as a grizzly, managed to smash part of the multi-pane viewing panel of its enclosure.

The viewing panel was never breached but the 30 second incident in which the bear picked up a basketball sized rock and repeatedly threw it at the glass caused zoo-goers to run in fear. A spokesman for the zoo said that ‘no harm or danger to either animal or zoo guests’ occurred. The zoo’s ‘Russia’s Grizzly Coast’ exhibit remains closed for repairs. Read more:
