Granada council apologises after breastfeeding mum expelled from tourist attraction
Staff at the historic monument of Corral del Carbón in Granada have sparked outrage after asking a breastfeeding mother to leave the tourist site.
The mother had sat down inside the grounds of the monument to feed her nine-month-old baby after she started crying. She was approached by a security guard who asked her to leave, though when the mother protested he could not cite any rules that said she could not breastfeed in public. Mothers’ rights groups have taken to social media deploring the move and Granada’s local council has since apologised, claiming women are free to breastfeed wherever they like and should feel comfortable to do so.
