Where to find glow-in-the-dark tacos in London this month
A London supper club is offering guests glow-in-the-dark tacos to eat in a pop-up that celebrates the Day of the Dead.
The Day of the Dead is a Mexican multi-day holiday, where gatherings are held to pray for and remember family members and friends who have passed away and support their spiritual journey. The pop-up will be hosted by Lostacos, a new venture from Quest for Bold Flavour, who strive to present different cuisines in London. It will present an immersive experience that also features film and music at Doodle Bar.
Doodle Bar is a bar and events space where people have the freedom to do things like play a game of ping-pong, doodle, of course, take in the view of Maltby Street Market, and enjoy some street food. Incorporating the vibrancy of Mexico’s best street food, those who attend the pop-up can enjoy eating glow-in-the-dark tacos while drinking a fiery mezcal cocktail that is Lostacos’ fiery take on the Paloma, and watching the Latin American horror cult classic film, Juan of the Dead.
The tacos will contain marinated spiced slow-roasted grilled pork, salsa verde, fresh coriander and house-soured cream, which will be followed by crispy and zesty fish tacos. Hand-made on the premises, they will incorporate ghostly glow-in-the-dark edible ingredients to give them a supernatural appearance. The organisers say that the afternoon will culminate in a "wild, mezcal-fuelled fiesta," while guests listen to music from Canadian band Whitebrow, who have been hailed as ‘mesmerising and darkly curious.’
