Indian travellers get cheap deals from global airlines
International airlines are targetting Indian travellers with cheap deals in an attempt to steal custom from Indian airlines, according to a report in the Times of India.
With falling fuel costs, many airlines have money to spend, and big players such as Emirates and British Airways are using this liquidity to offer discount fares to grow market share in formerly tricky destinations. Airlines operating out of India are hampered by laws requiring them to fund many operating costs in US dollars, but Jet and Air India are pledging to match the discounted fares.
