Gastronomic boom draws tourists to Lima

Peru's capital city of Lima has seen a 16 percent rise in tourism since last year and a one-third increase to 2.2 million visitors to since 2009. A boom in the city's food scene is a major draw for tourists and a gastronomic culture is transforming the city. Bars and restaurants are emerging in once-desolate neighborhoods such as the Barranco district, where visitors were previously deterred by crime. Read more:
