This photographer captures ethereal images of his girlfriend in remote locations around the world
A travel blogging couple has amassed thousands of followers online for their haunting and dreamlike images taken at remote and unspoiled locations all around the world.
The images are part of a project called Follow Me Away that was created by Terrence and Victoria, a talented couple who visit interesting locations to create artwork that offers an alternative take on what travel photography can be. Victoria acts as the model, posing against picturesque sites such as forests, lakes and mountains while Terence takes the photographs. Throughout the series, Victoria wears a selection of vintage style dresses that create a haunting, otherworldly atmosphere. The project began in 2015 following the couple’s first international trip, which saw them visiting Ireland, France and Italy. Throughout the journey, Terrence and Victoria experimented with the idea that would soon evolve into the Follow Me Away project. So far the pair has visited 19 countries in under a year, and plan to continue their exploration.
'By meshing photography and travel with a unique artistic approach, we aim to inspire others to explore the world around them through travel. We hope that the Follow Me Away project gives viewers a peek into what beauty the world has to offer. In our images, we rarely show faces and we do this to encourage our viewers to imagine themselves in the landscapes and scenarios and create their own travel stories,' Terrence and Victoria told Lonely Planet Travel News. The project hasn’t been without its challenges however, and requires a lot of energy and planning. Sometimes Victoria hikes to the locations while wearing the dresses, often in freezing temperatures in order to save time. Often the shoots last just under five minutes due to weather conditions. 'Finding a balance between being a couple that travels together and a couple that photographs together is always difficult. Sometimes we don't see eye to eye on which destinations to shoot, when to take breaks, or how long to continue shooting one location and more. We are constantly trying to figure out how to successfully balance it all,' they said.
The couple is currently planning a winter trans-Canadian train trip where they will have the opportunity to take the project from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast of the country. They also have various South American and Asian countries on their list for the year ahead. As well as creating photographs for the project, Terrence and Victoria also run a travel blog under the same name. More of their work is available on the Follow Me Away website and Instagram account.
