Mumbai's new trendiest hotspot is in the Arabian sea
As the gateway to India and its financial capital, Mumbai has perhaps the most vibrant and buzzing dining scene in the country. Once dominated by tapriwalas (shanty tea shops) and thelawalas (food carts), eating in Mumbai has moved from the streets into posh fine-dining spaces, serving up Instagram-worthy eating experiences and culinary innovations that are breaking boundaries and redefining the city’s gastronomic scene.
The latest novel offering from Mumbai is dining on the ocean, with night-time views of the sparkling city skyline, and the chance to spot dolphins gambolling in the waters beyond the Bandra-Worli Sealink bridge.
Set on an ocean-going cruiser, anchored in the Arabian Sea, the Ark Deck Bar is spread over three levels, with an open-air bar deck, a sleek sit-down restaurant, swish private dining areas and three suites for high rollers. The cosy blue and white colours create a Mediterranean vibe, while the menu of contemporary fusion cuisine mixes Italian, Lebanese, American and Mexican flavours.
Diners are ferried to the floating restaurant from a jetty near the Bandra-Worli Sealink toll. After a 12 minute speedboat ride, you’ll be able to soak up 360-degree views of the ocean as you sip cool cocktails and bop to party-perfect tunes from an in-house DJ, promising a memorable night on the waves. The cruiser has been dubbed the 'city's next hotspot', and it's proving popular after just three weeks, with weekends being booked out.
The restaurant is open from 5pm daily, but reservations are essential to secure a table and transfer. The full swanky dining experience here comes with a INR 6000 cover charge per couple, but this is redeemable against food and drinks. The cover for single men is INR 3500.
