First KFC restaurant to open in Tibet in 2016

American fast-food giant KFC has announced it will open a its first outlet in Tibet.

The fried-chicken restaurant will be operated by a franchisee in Lhasa, Tibet’s capital city. KFC originally planned to open a store in Tibet in 2004, but the plan was scrapped, drawing praise from Tibet’s spiritual leader and staunch vegetarian, the Dalai Lama. KFC’s parent company, Yum Brands Inc, has stated the opening is part of a wider expansion within China; Yum currently operates 6900 outlets in the country. Read more:
