Famous street car back in action in Rio de Janeiro
The iconic street car in Rio de Janeiro's Santa Teresa neighborhood has resumed service after years of delays.
The century-old train crashed in 2011 after the brakes failed, killing six people. The test phase for the first segment of tracks is currently operating for 5 hours per day. The full circuit is set to be replaced, but only 20% has been completed so far. The system was meant to be ready for last year's World Cup and for next year's Olympic games, but authorities say it will not be fully complete until 2017. Read more: bbc.com
