Exhibition of Holocaust art opens in Berlin
German Chancellor Angela Merkel attended the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin on Monday to open a new exhibition entitled "The Art of the Holocaust".
All of the 100 artworks on display were created by prisoners of concentration camps or ghettos between 1939 to 1945, and 24 of the artists did not survive the Nazi period. Many of the pieces depict the horror the artists had witnessed, although some artworks show happier scenes of their previous lives. The exhibition will run at the museum until 3 April.
