Is this the new trend for 2017? You can book dinner in the sky in five cities across the UK next year
This year we were introduced to an intriguing new trend where daring diners started taking to the sky for unique meals that saw them eating while literally being suspended 100 feet from the ground.
And now it seems that the breathtaking experience will be growing ever more popular in 2017, with five new suspended open air events set to be held in different cities across the United Kingdom next year. The experiences will be run in the summertime by Events in the Sky, and will feature a range of chefs bringing exciting menus to the table that match the views. Events in the UK are planned for London, Glasgow, Bristol, Newcastle and Southampton and are available for booking now.
Events in the Sky is part of the Dinner in the Sky group that is currently operating in 50 different countries around the world. They cater for public and corporate events, with different menus and experiences being available. The UK events will allow guests to have breakfast, lunch or dinner as well as afternoon or evening drinks, with chefs Michael Reid, Jeremy Page and Calum Franklin already on board for the London experiences to serve up some serious treats. Prices range from £50 to £200 depending on the time of day and menu chosen. Glasgow in the Sky features food from Chaophraya, which was voted best Asian cuisine at the Scottish Entertainment Awards in 2015, while top restaurant Harvey Nichols will take part in the Bristol events.
Guests arrive 45 minutes before take-off and are registered and fastened in using three safety belts. Once everything is secured, the table is lifted into the sky by a mobile crane where the experience begins. Guests are then served food straight from a pop-up kitchen set in the middle of the table.
More information on booking an event is available on the Events in the Sky website. Full line-up and menus are due to be announced in February 2017.
