Emirates to fly world’s longest flight for a short while

From 2 March Emirates airline will fly a direct daily service between Dubai and Auckland which for a brief stint will be one of the world’s longest commercial flights at 17 hours 15 minutes (Auckland to Dubai leg).

The flight’s record, however, will be eclipsed by 31 March when Emirates will bring in their Dubai-Panama flights which will take 17 hours and 35 minutes. Currently the longest flight record is held by Qantas’ Dallas/Fort Worth to Sydney service which covers 13,800km and takes 16 hours and 55 minutes.
