Get a first-class experience without a first-class ticket at Emirates’ Dubai lounge
While you may not be carrying that first-class ticket, if you’re flying Emirates out of Dubai, you can still treat yourself to a first-class experience before the plane takes off.
Emirates will now allow members of its rewards programme to pay for access to its lounges, which feature a variety of amenities that may convince travellers to shell out the extra funds.
Skywards Blue members who haven't yet collected any points will be able to pay US$100 to access the Emirates business class lounge and $200 for the first-class lounge at Dubai International Airport, regardless of what class they are travelling. Family and friends will also be able to join them in the airlines’ very fancy private lounges for an additional fee.
Silver members – members who’ve collected 25,000 points – already have access and will be able to bring someone in with them for the fee. Gold members who have amassed 50,000 points, have complimentary access and can invite one other person travelling on the same flight into the lounge for free. Platinum members can bring an adult guest and two people under the age of 17 into the lounge, regardless of what class the guests are travelling in.
If you’re wondering whether it’s worth the money, the first-class lounge in Dubai features a cigar bar, fine dining, shower spas, dedicated quiet areas, and a sommelier that can help you choose your wine. Compare that to trying to get comfortable at a regular gate.
