Elephant tramples handler to death in Phuket

An elephant has killed his trainer at a camp in southern Phuket, the second fatal trampling of an elephant handler in the region within three days. In both cases the elephants were male, which is expected to bring renewed calls for male elephants – which can become aggressive during ‘musth’, the strong mating urge that male elephants experience periodically – to be banned by law from taking tourists on treks.
