Fans of the TV series, Downton Abbey, can avail of a once-in-a-lifetime chance to spend a night at Highclere Castle in Hampshire, as it will be available to rent to two people for one night only on Airbnb.
The 19th-century castle is used for exterior shots and most of the interior filming on the ITV/PBS series, which has captivated audiences for six seasons as it chronicled the saga of the Crawley family and the lives of their servants. To celebrate the Downton Abbey movie, two guests can have their very own adventure at the period drama's real-life setting and inspiration in England.
The castle itself covers 100,000 square feet and has a total of 300 rooms, and the guests will be treated like royalty. The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon will invite them to join them for an exclusive evening of cocktails in the Saloon, followed by a traditional three-course dinner in the State Dining Room, complete with butler service.
After a post-dinner coffee in the Library, the guests will then retire to a room in one of the Gallery bedrooms, with an en-suite bathroom and views over 1000 acres of rolling parkland. They will also be treated to a lavish breakfast the next morning, followed by a private tour of Highclere Castle’s extensive grounds, where they will learn how the historic castle epitomised the fortitude and glamour of the Edwardian period at the beginning of the 20th century.
