Disney's Moana competition: and the winner is...
We recently launched a travel writing competition in partnership with Disney UK, inspired by the voyages of Moana.
The winner is 11-year-old Isabella Cartwright, who told us all about her eye-opening (and taste-bud-tingling) adventure in Hong Kong. She wins a lovely bundle of Moana goodies as well as a bunch of Lonely Planet Kids books of her choice. Congratulations Isabella!
Here's her winning entry.
Hectic Hong Kong – by Isabella Cartwright, 11
During the Spring Break, my family and I visited Hong Kong. It was a busy trip – altogether we walked more than 50km! We had an excellent view from our room of Victoria Harbour and the skyline of Hong Kong island. To get around, we used the MTR, buses and trams, which were super efficient.
I loved the markets and temples in Hong Kong – the smell of the strong incense in the temples was amazing, and the hustle and bustle of the markets was so fun to see. We tried Chinese street food, and it is delicious! One of the coolest parts of the trip was going up to the Peak overlooking Hong Kong – it has a beautiful view of the city and surrounding areas.
While we were in Hong Kong we also visited Disney, The Nan Lian gardens, The Chi Lin Nunnery, museums, and the harbour. The harbour was so colourful with many different boats of all shapes and sizes. The biggest thing I learnt about myself in Hong Kong, was I now LOVE Chinese food! I definitely recommend Hong Kong to everyone.
Thanks to all who entered the competition!
