Dhaka transport blockade likely to last several days

The transport blockade called by opposition parties following the house arrest of Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Khaleda Zia is causing turmoil in Dhaka. Despite an official ban on public gatherings, cars, buses and motorcycles have been burned by angry mobs, and transport in the city has ground to a halt. With further arrests of opposition politicians and counter demonstrations from pro-government groups, the blockade is likely to last for many more days. Read more: thedailystar.net
