DC Public Library to host marathon reading of Orwell’s 1984

Big Brother may or may not be watching, but anyone can listen in. The Washington DC Public Library is hosting a marathon reading of George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984 to kick off a series of events exploring government transparency and personal privacy in the modern era. The reading will take place on  21 January and will be broadcast live via YouTube. Anyone can apply to take part. Other events include lectures and screenings on subjects such as accessing online government information and transparency vs national security. Read more: dcist.com
