Cyprus Airways stops flying after EU funding ruling

The national airline of Cyprus, Cyprus Airways has ceased operations after the EU ruled that it received more than 65 million euros in illegal state aid, which it must now repay. Almost 94% of the company is state-owned. According to Cyprus’ Ministry of Finance, travellers with Cyprus Airways flight tickets can make alternative arrangements or be reimbursed and the government will cover the cost. There are also plans to set up a new company to replace Cyprus Airways. Read more:
