Cull approved to combat Aarhus seagull problem

Officials in Aarhus, Denmark, have approved a cull to reduce the number of seagulls in the city.

Many residents are said to be at the end of their tether with the huge flocks of birds, which have been known to attack people and cause significant noise. Aarhus Municipality is to employ 16 hunters until 15 April, after which time the cull will be stopped due the the birds' mating season. While many are in favour of the plan to reduce the seagull population, skeptics say it could simply clear the way for other seagulls to move in.
