Cuba wins Caribbean baseball championship

After more than 50 years out in the cold, Cuba has won the Caribbean’s premier baseball tournament in its second year back in the series. Cuba’s Pinar del Rio club beat Mexico to take the crown over the weekend. The Caribbean island rejoined the series when the Cuban government permitted players to play internationally after a hiatus of half a century; its last victory in the Caribbean series was in 1960. Baseball is a national obsession in Cuba and visitors can attend matches between national league clubs at the Estadio Latinoamericano in Vedado, Havana. Read more:
