Cuba tourist numbers on the increase in 2015

As Cuba increasingly becomes part of international tourism conversations, the growing numbers of visitors have become largely apparent: tourist arrivals totaled more than 2.6 million as of the end of September, hitting this mark two months earlier than last year and indicating a 400,000 person increase.

September, which normally is one of the slowest months for tourism, saw a 27.4% increase from 2014. More than 1 million of these visitors hailed from Canada, while tourists from Germany, Britain, and France also arrived in strong numbers. The government plans to build several new hotels and renovate properties to meet the increased tourism demand, a plan which calls for adding more than 13,600 rooms in 2016.
