Croatia's dog-friendly beach bar serves up beer and ice-cream to your pooch
Imagine this; you’re gazing out on the crystal clear water of the Adriatic sea, sitting on a beach with a beer in one hand and your four-legged companion lapping his own doggy beer at your feet. It’s a dream you can make reality at Croatia’s first dog-friendly beach and bar.
Monty’s Dog Beach and Bar opens on 29 July in Crikvenica until 1 October and it’s not just dog-friendly, it’s pure pooch heaven. After some refreshing paddling, your dog can wash the salt water off in the fully equipped showers before enjoying a specially brewed beer made of chicken and vegetables or cooling down with doggy ice cream made from bananas, peanuts, yoghurt and soy milk.
The bar even offers an extra service to make some memories while you relax. You can borrow a GoPro from the bar to attach to your dog’s back so you can see a day at the beach from a dog’s eye perspective. Humans are also well-catered for too with wi-fi, deckchairs, umbrella and a full range of drinks and snacks suitable for human consumption.
Most beaches in Croatia don’t allow dogs but Crikvenica is making an exception and it’s not the only place who sees the value of dog-friendly holiday spots. The Danish town of Holstebro recently made headlines by declaring they would start a series of dog-friendly bars to tempt tourists back after fears Denmark’s strict dog rules were keeping ‘fur parents’ away on their summer holidays.
