Had your fill of deep-fried creme eggs? Creme egg cronuts and pizzas are also on the Easter menu
We told you recently about the deep-fried creme eggs on the menu in a gastropub in Ireland, and now its neighbour England has gotten in on the act with not one, but two treats made from the fondant-filled Cadbury's chocolate eggs.
Food delivery firm, Deliveroo, has just unveiled a limited-edition pizza creme egg pizza made by delivery-only Neapolitan pizza specialists, Crust Bros. They are part of Deliveroo's new Editions programme, an effort to create clusters of pop-up kitchens to help existing restaurants launch delivery services in areas they don't already cover. Available until 14 April, these fior-egg-tina pizzas have a macerated strawberry base covered with mascarpone and mint toppings. The pizza is topped off with melting halves of creme eggs, and there is an option to adorn the pizza with a sprinkling of Cadbury's Mini Eggs.
As if that wasn't enough to make us loosen our belts a notch or three, a London-based bakery has decided to incorporate the Easter chocolate treat into its range of creme egg cronuts, which it terms' crodoughs.' "Our creme egg crodoughs are the most indulgent crodough we make," says Rinkoffs Bakery of the croissant-meets-doughnut hybrid, made from the bakery's 100-year-old family croissant recipe. "Creme egg fondant is piped on top and inside all of the layers. We then finish it off with a mini creme egg on top."
It's probably just as well that Cadbury's Creme Eggs are seasonal and will be gone again after Easter, or we'd have to fear for our arteries with all of these delicious treats on offer.
