Confusion over new visa rules in South Africa

Reports are emerging of single parents arriving at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport with children under 18 being asked to supply copies of the other parent’s passport, something that new visa rules do not require.

The much-hyped regulations, which recently came into effect, do require consent in the form of a written affidavit from the non-travelling parent, as well as each child’s unabridged birth certificate. South Africa’s Home Affairs office has sought to downplay the incidents. Read more: tourismupdate.co.za
