Cincinnati Museum to display rare 1776 copy of Declaration of Independence

A rare copy of the Declaration of Independence dating from 9 July 1776 is going on display for the first time in the Cincinnati Museum Center. The document, a broadside printed by newspaper publisher John Holt to inform the public about the new nation, has been hidden away in Ohio’s archives for more that 140 years. ‘We’re thrilled to have this national treasure that is a very important piece of American and world history,’ said the museum’s CEO Elizabeth Pierce.
