China’s new lakeside National Maritime Museum to open on 20 May
China will soon have its own National Maritime Museum chronicling the country’s maritime and naval history, set to open on 20 May.
The museum has been under construction in the port city of Tianjin since 2014 and was initially slated to open last year. Photos published by Xinhua show the partially-finished museum’s steel structure, designed as four halls that radiate out from a main structure. The museum will be located on reclaimed land in the Binhai port district. The building will sit alongside a lake, where boats and waterborne vessels will be on display.
