China closes borders to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan for festival

The Chinese borders between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan will be temporarily closed this weekend.

The borders between the countries, including the checkpoints at Torugart-Avtodorozhnyi and Irkeshtam-Avtodorozhyi on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, will close from 24-28 September and reopen again on 29 September. Authorities have said the closure is due to the Chinese celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival this weekend.
