A tourist has been placed on China’s new tourism blacklist after sitting on a People’s Liberation Army statue. Photos of the tourist sitting on the head of a Red Guard statue at a memorial park in Shaanxi province went viral online, drawing the attention of China’s tourism body. The man has been placed on a blacklist for ten years, though it was not clear what if any penalties would be enforced. The Red Guard statue-squatter is the second tourist to be blacklisted by mainland China’s tourism authority: the first was an Air Asia passenger who threw boiling noodles on an air hostess in 2014.
