China calls for end to bizarre building practices
Creative buildings and odd architectural gems may soon be a thing of the past in China as the national government has called for an end to ‘bizarre’ architecture in the country.
The new directive stated that the oddly-shaped buildings that have been popular in recent years were ‘oversized’ and ‘weird’ and asked that all future buildings have a focus on being functional and green. Among the strangest buildings constructed in China in recent years were one in the shape of a teapot in Jiangsu province and the horseshoe-shaped Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort, as well as the iconic CCTV building in Beijing.
