Champs-Elysees to go car-free once a month

Paris’ famous boulevard, the Champs-Elysees, is to be traffic-free for one Sunday every month, according to a raft of new environmental measures announced by the mayor.

Pedestrians will be able to stroll freely down the 1.2-mile avenue that runs from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe and is one of the country’s major tourist attractions. Other measures include plans to permanently pedestrianise a stretch of road that runs along the right bank of the Seine. Read more:
