Forget the avolatte, the carrot-cino is the latest quirky food creation by a café in Sydney
Ah lads, we thought we'd reached peak hipsterdom when the world started going mad for the avolatte, which is basically coffee served in an avocado skin, until news reached us that the carrot-cino is the latest quirky - some might say faintly ridiculous - food mash-up.
The Local's Corner café is Seaforth, Sydney, posted a pic of its new creation on Facebook, and it consisted of coffee served in a hollowed-out carrot, topped off by the ubiquitous coffee art, of course. Well, no self-respecting hipster drink would be complete without it.
We have so many questions though. Coffee keeps you awake but carrots help you see in the dark so will it improve your night vision as you stare at the ceiling ? When the carrot flavour seeps into the coffee, can that be considered one of your five-a-day? And finally, as heat makes carrots go soft, just how practical is this concoction going to be?
Speaking to the Daily Mail Australia, café owner Vanya admitted that the coffee-vegetable-fruit combo is something she has been playing around with for fun. Back in February, she posted a pic of a coffee in a cored-out apple placed on a 'saucer' of pineapple and says that she has a few new combos up her sleeve.
'It would be very hard to drink out of because it doesn't hold coffee well,' she admitted of her carrot-cino.
We can't wait to see what kind of creation she comes up with next, but just don't ask us to taste it! We prefer our coffee in a regular, boring old mug, free from the addition of healthy fruit and vegetable flavours.
