Captivating stingray migration footage goes viral
A video posted on Facebook a few months ago featuring hundreds of migrating stingrays has gone viral.
The incredible footage, shot by Miranda Pederson, shows an enormous group of cownose stingrays floating like a cloud through the shallow waters off South Tampa, Florida. Being sociable creatures the cownose rays can often travel in groups of up to 10,000 and have been known to migrate long distances, even as far as Venezuela and Brazil in South America.
