Canary Islands' oil exploration halted after failing quality test

The Spanish energy firm Repsol is to end controversial oil exploration in the Canary Islands after the fuel was found to be of poor quality. The exploration drew protest from locals and environmental groups who believed the drilling would damage the surrounding ecosystem and impact tourism to the islands. A Greenpeace ship was impounded last week after entering a restricted zone to protest at the drilling. Read more:
