Bungling thieves in Italy caught out by fake beards and clumsiness
A pair of thieves who robbed a bank in Milan last year have been caught after their DNA was found on the fake beards that they wore.
Armed with pistols, the bearded bandits locked the bank’s employees in a room and forced the bank manager to open the safe, getting away with €50,000 in cash. But their disguises proved to be their downfall, after they disposed of the beards at the crime scene and police forensic investigators managed to find their DNA and identify them on the national database.
Another bungling thief was arrested in Rimini on Monday, after he managed to drop a safe that he and his accomplices had prised from a wall onto his hand. Police found traces of blood at the scene and tracked the thief down in a local hospital, where he was being treated for three broken fingers. Read more: telegraph.co.uk and ansa.it
