Ready to test your wizardry? British Library has announced a dream job for Harry Potter fans
If you can school your friends at a pub quiz when the ‘J.K. Rowling’ category comes up, or engage in furious debates over whether Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw is truly the coolest, the British Library has just announced the perfect job for you. Harry Potter fans around the world are all trying to figure out if they can really apply for an opening for a ‘Harry Potter Creative Producer.’ (Hint: you must be eligible to work in the UK, for starters.)
Whomever is so lucky and skilled in wizardry as to earn the title of Harry Potter Creative Producer will be a fundamental part of the team that curates and displays a new exhibition at the British Library about Harry Potter, magic, and wizardry through the ages. The show itself will contain books, manuscripts, and other magical objects from centuries past, including some which helped inspire J.K. Rowling in her series. The creative producer will help bring the exhibition to life – an act of magic for those who will attend the exhibit once it opens.
The exhibition will open to the public in October 2017 in London, and is expected to draw international crowds due to the never-ending popularity of the Harry Potter series. For longtime fans of the series, it’s a unique role that will help convey the magic of the beloved books to fans new and old. To qualify for application, prospective Harry Potter Creative Producers will need both passion for Harry Potter and project management skills. The British Library also notes that top candidates will have experience managing national-level exhibitions and a keen understanding of the pressures which public libraries face in society.
Whether it was intentional, the British Library will undoubtedly be receiving a flurry of owls bearing applications for this once-in-a-lifetime Harry Potter fan dream job.
This is a part-time role through February 2018, meaning you can still pursue other Harry Potter creative endeavours if you’re the successful applicant. Applications close before interviews on May 19th.
