British Airways reveals a sneak peek of its exclusive private check-in lounge at Heathrow
British Airways has released a video that gives a glimpse of its exclusive check-in area, The First Wing. It's naturally fabulous, so the rest of us can seethe with envy at how the other half lives.
The First Wing opened in April and is for the exclusive use of BA's First, Gold Executive Club and oneworld Emerald customers at Heathrow Terminal 5 in London. Since then, it has has welcomed nearly 200,000 travellers through its enhanced, private check-in area. There are also two dedicated security channels leading directly into the lounges.
Passengers can relax and recharge their batteries before their flights in the Concorde Room, which offers discreet booths, full waiter service, private cabanas and a state-of-the-art business suite. Facilities include various dining options, showers and a clothes-pressing service as well as armchairs, marble-topped side tables and bespoke leather banquettes.
It sounds amazing, just like the first-class Emirates lounge in Dubai, where you can actually treat yourself to a first-class experience before the plane takes off without a first-class ticket. It features a cigar bar, fine dining, shower spas, dedicated quiet areas, and a sommelier that can help you choose your wine.
The Qantas lounge at Los Angeles International in the Tom Bradley Terminal is exclusively for the enjoyment of first-class passengers. The 17,500-square-foot space has seven showers and plenty of desks for getting work done. There are also numerous Knoll leather couches and velvet “womb chairs” for relaxing. Guests can also unwind at a bar made of a 48-foot stretch of Italian marble.
Now, all we need to do is get rich so we can afford the first-class life to which we would like to become accustomed.
